Manhole & Sewer Services

A manhole sitting an inch below or above finished grade is a maintenance problem that gets more expensive every season. Prairie Underground adjusts frames and lids back to grade, repairs the surrounding structure, and maintains sewer access on private lots, industrial yards and municipal roadways.

Work is scheduled around your operations, with traffic control and clean reinstatement of the surface.

Scope of work

  • 01 Manhole raising and lowering Frames and lids brought back to finished grade after paving, overlay or settlement.
  • 02 Frame, lid and chimney repair Replacement of broken frames and lids, re-setting of adjusting rings, and sealing of the chimney.
  • 03 Inflow and infiltration control Sealing entry points so surface water stops loading the sanitary system.
  • 04 Sewer maintenance and access Locating buried covers, clearing access, and condition assessment of the structure below.
  • 05 Surface reinstatement Saw-cut, compacted backfill and patch that holds up under traffic loads.
  • 06 Documented condition reporting Photo-supported record of each structure, work performed and remaining deficiencies.

Why it matters

A proud lid catches snow-clearing equipment and takes the blade, the frame or both. A sunken one becomes a trip hazard on a walkway and a claim waiting to happen in a parking lot. Settlement around the structure spreads outward into the pavement and turns a half-day adjustment into a full excavation. In parking lots and driving lanes, correct grade is a safety issue before it is a maintenance one.
